Bone Point’s Phoenix “Indy”

Indy is the perfect dog to start a breeding program around. All of the stars aligned with this pup. Her natural ability was off the charts at only 8 weeks old. She was an intense pointer and retriever the first day we brought her home. She was not only pointing her birds from a distance but holding them and allowing us to walk out in front her for minutes at a time.

By the time 11 weeks rolled around she was jumping off 3 foot docks into ponds to retrieve bumpers. She shows no fear and has bulletproof confidence.

At 4 months old we ran her in her NAVHDA Natural Ability Test. She scored a 110/112, only missing 2 points in the tracking portion. We were very excited for her given her age and due to the fact it was 95 degrees with 30mph wind when she ran the tracking & water portion of the test.

In her first season she of hunting she did not disappoint. Showing phenomenal versatility both upland hunting and waterfowl hunting. At 6 months old on her first duck hunt she retrieved a 6 man limit of ducks in under 2 hours. We spent a large amount of our time hunting grouse out in the Ft. Pierre National grasslands. Day after day she showed her toughness and ability to find wild birds in big open landscapes. She was also able to get an opportunity to hunt quail in Kansas. She also had multiple hunts late in our SD season in sub zero temps where she handled the cold with excellence.

One of our favorite qualities about Indy is her ability to adapt to cover. One day she will hunt grouse at 300 yards, then the next day we will be guiding pheasants and she will quarter 80 yards wide and maintain staying 30-40 yards ahead of the group. She is truly the easiest dog were gotten to hunt behind.

What is Indy like in the house? Well she’s sleeping next to me as I type this. Indy is calm in the house and loves to play with her toys. Her biggest problem is she’s an absolute cuddle bug & people pleaser. One of Indys favorite thing to do when she isn’t hunting is going on trail runs with my wife & I.

So far this year, Indy has also been featured on Garmin Hunt Fish, Scheels Outdoors & Sioux Falls Scheels.

Bone Point’s Hayden “Annie”

Annie is the type of dog that your grandpa would sit around talking about. One of those “they dont make’em like that anymore” kind of dog. There might be something to that with her, after all Cascade Digger, her dad, was born 2/15/1987.

I was incredibly fortunate when I got Annie. She was the perfect dog for the perfect situation. I was in college and needed a gritty, big running, do it all dog. She was all of that. In Annies first season she pointed and retrieved over 100 public land birds. Pointing wild grouse and pheasant at 4 months old on the National Grasslands in South Dakota. Annie hunted 5 days a week with me at this time. I was in college in South Dakota and had nothing else to do so we chased roosters during the week and grouse on the weekends.

Annie comes from a long line of field trial champions and incredibly high horse power dogs. This is something you will see immediately when hunting with her. She covers ground with an extra gear and we joke that she runs angry. She is all business in the field. She is the same way when in the water. She pounds the water and is a great duck dog.

Her ability to want to work is our favorite quality about her. I will always remember when I went to force fetch her for the first time. She would cry in her kennel because she wanted to get out a retrieve the bumpers so bad. Even years later she wont let me force fetch other dogs unless she gets out as well to do some training. That kind of confidence is something that doesn’t go unnoticed. Annie is a natural duck dog. She not only will search for ducks all day but was hand signal trained by 14 months old.

She showed her duck hunting skills off this last fall retrieving a 5 man limit of birds. On multiple occasions of having to tread water for diving ducks and eventually her diving to catch them. She also has had multiple 150+ yard retrieves on open water for ducks. She is truly an asset it the blind.

What is Annie like in the house? Simply put, she’s the best. She has never gotten into anything and sleeps on the couch all day. She is silent in the house and never barks. She also thinks she is TikTok famous after having a video of her get 2.2 million views! I cannot say enough good things about this little dog.
